This Might Be Your Lucky Day {Giveaway with Nearly $200 in Prizes!}

by Laura on October 23, 2012

As I write this, my husband is on an airplane right now. He has super-spyish equipment in his luggage, and we’re praying that customs doesn’t flag him for carrying in tasers and undercover camera gear. It’s the first time he’ll be back in SE Asia since we moved back to the States two and a half months ago, and it’s strange not boarding the plane with him.

I admit, I’m a bit jealous. Not of the stress of walking past customs with strange things in the suitcase, but of the street food and the flowers, the scooter-rides and the jungles. Mostly, though, I’m jealous that he gets to see again in the the flesh the precious souls we left there. I’m envious that he gets to experience the realities behind all the words we’ve been speaking and writing these past months.

And to distract myself from missing my husband for two weeks, and in an effort to get the word out about the counter-trafficking work we’re involved with of funding undercover investigations into the underage sex industry, I am hosting a Mega-Giveaway this week– bigger than any I’ve ever hosted before. The total value of the items is nearly $200 and there will be SEVEN different winners. Here’s the loot:

Yes, I pretty much want all of this stuff, too.

And isn’t it amazing that these ladies are donating the above items to show support for the fight against modern day slavery? Be sure to take a minute to visit, shop and like their stores– this is a virtual (and practical) way to say thank you for their generosity. Each one has gorgeous products and art for sale.

As many of you know, one of the most important first steps for any movement or nonprofit comes in building its “tribe”– a community of people who care about the issues involved. Thus, the chief purpose of this mega-giveaway is to “get the word out” for The Exodus Road whether it’s subscribing to the newsletter for real stories from the field, following on facebook or twitter (@theExodusRoad), or sharing it with your friends. Remember that even if you can’t financially invest in a cause you care about, the power of your social-investment should not be underrated. And, hey, you might win some fairly awesome free stuff in the process. It’s a win-win– like buying Girl Scout cookies from your neighbor’s kid or a pair of Toms despite their utter lack of arch-support.

    Laura, I’m pretty non-techy…but I think the Rafflecopter link isn’t working. It takes me to a general Rafflecopter page, but without any instruction or connection to your specific giveaway. Am I just missing something?
