Today in the Desert

by Laura on June 17, 2010

Today {not in the future, a better mood, or an easier season}, if you hear His voice {stirrings, Divine ‘coincidinces,’ Truth}, do not harden your hearts {distract yourself, ignore My pursuit, turn away}, as you did in the rebellion {remember, the Israelites in the desert?}.

Who were they who heard {had the chance to know and trust Me} and rebelled {but didn’t take it}?  Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt {the same ones rescued from slavery, the same ones whose eyes had seen waters divide}?

. . . But they were not able to enter {My rest, My promised land, My dream for them}, because of their unbelief {in the middle of the desert, facing the giants of the land}.”

-hebrews 3:15-19 {mine}

Do you find yourself in a desert today?  A place of heat and sameness and thirst?

Do you find yourself facing gaints in the land?  Obstacles and afflictions and mountains that don’t seem to be moving?

My encouragement to you {but more to myself}, is to

remember the Rescue,

listen with a heart that’s soft,

and believe

anyway.

What do you need to believe God for today?

What do I need to believe today?
A few tears of situational exhaustion. A look outside at our glorious earth He made for us. A friend to say ‘no, you’re not totally crazy’. A husband to hug me. A reminder to self to stop and breathe for a minute. His Words.
